My very first summer with Southwestern was by far one of the greatest experiences to date. The friendships and memories that I gained are still with me today and I still keep in contact with my friends across the U.S. and globe. Although this was challenging, the growth of spiritual, mental, and physical state has been incredible. I can remember those days when it was tough and I felt like giving up, but I learned about staying committed and keeping my word and I pushed through and became a top first-year.

As I continue through the program, I am continually reminded of my years playing football in high school. It felt great to compete again and be ranked internationally. After a couple years of college I had descended into the college slump of mediocrity when I heard about this program and I was very excited at the prospect of just going for it and doing my best. In addition to the competitive aspect of this program, I loved the friendships I have developed with confident, successful, and ambitious college students. It has been a great experience!

Working with Southwestern not only gave me the ability to believe in and rely on myself but also helped me professionally. While interviewing for a job and being asked one thing I was proud of, I told the potential employer about my Southwestern experience. After I was done, she looked me in the eye and said “If you can do that, you can definitely do this.”

I have done this all the way through University and my Master’s and from the first year, I realized that there was no other program or internship where I could develop my CV, gain great experience, travel, and make enough to pay my way through university. I was initially worried I would not make what the average student does but since then realized that you do not have to be a good salesperson to do well. It is all about hard work. I have been amazed at how much you can learn in a summer each year from sales and marketing to management to leadership. Thoroughly recommended.

The Southwestern program has helped me in many areas of my daily life. The money has been great, but the money will come and go. The things you learn while doing this are the things I will use the rest of my life. Realizing how much my attitude can affect my day and everything I do has been so helpful. The friendships I have made and the influence of other people in this company is priceless. I continue to come back for the challenge and the people.

During me past three summers on the “bookfield,” I’ve gained a tremendous amount of self awareness along with emotional growth, confidence, and a better understanding of people. It has been the most rewarding, but the best part about the summer is all of the friends I make!

The growth and confidence that this shows you is incredible. Knowing you finished a summer doing something so incredibly hard that most college students don’t even consider doing, is an amazing feeling. The summer also gives students a grasp on the family. You meet so many people in so many different situations that you become very thankful for what you have and what kind of parent you want to be. Helping families with educaiton is so rewarding.

Southwestern is definitely the best opportunity that has come my way. At first I thought is was a scam and wanted nothing to do with it, but I stayed open minded and looked into it. I have only worked one summer thus far but from that single summer, I have grown in almost every way imaginable. I honestly believe in the company, its employees and its mission. Not only does it help the students who participate in it but the families who buy the books.
