Most Dads would like to see their kids grow up and leave the nest, and my daughter did just that. She not only left the nest but she provided for herself and proved herself worthy to go out into the world and make a future for herself.
It’s really character building. It really does pay dividends and they are very much more competent when they come back.
We thought it was going to be a mistake for her, but she was determined and after seeing what she went through it was a very worthwhile experience. She really grew tremendously. Her confidence grew, her ability to manage her time and it was a good learning experience.
The only way to [let your child sell books] is to trust in your children. You’ve brought them up, you know who they are as people, and therefore you know that a part of you actually goes with them.
I thought it was really great. It teaches you about life. It’s a real growing up and learning experience. That’s something that is priceless for a young person who is getting ready to go out on their own.
