In 1995 & 1996 I worked in MO, IL, KY, TN and MS. I can not explain how I had the power to leave my comfortzone. To decide to work for experience and knowledge. To step outside the easy way of life and return home for my summers. But I did and it changed me, for life. My work experience with The Southwestern Company set my stage for life. It is a wonderful stepping stone for anyone who is serious about sales and leadership. Thank you and best regards.
It was the greatest experience for personal growth in my life. All success that I have ever had relates DIRECTLY to my Southwestern experience.
An amazing summer! Helped prepare me to be a success in business or any walk of life. Learned a lot about others, myself, and things I was capable of doing that I didn’t know I could do.
The Southwestern experience was the most useful of all my educational experience as it pertains to my success today
Southwestern offers one of the best experiences any young college student could get – and not just for those destined for sales, but anyone who wants to be successful.
Working on the bookfield was probably the most liberating experience of my life. It allows you great range of emotion. I know that after accomplishing 2 full summers (one as a walker) I can do ANYTHING I put my mind to. It is the best personal growth experience anyone could ever ask for. Not to mention…fun!
It taught me to really be able to talk to people. I would not be able to interact with patients and staff to the same level without my Southwestern experience. I also paid for my wife’s engagement ring with the income!
Southwestern taught me a lot about humility and courage and how to be happy – even if the dogs chase you out! We had great times and made nice cash, which helped me start my life without college debts.
My 2 summers with Southwestern were two of the most challenging and rewarding summers of my college experience. The experience helped me to develop from a quiet, introvert to a person who could confidently communicate in almost any setting. This experience clearly set me apart from other students when interviewing.
At the time they told me this would make the rest of my life easier. Of course, I didn’t believe them, and of course they were right. I recently spoke with an alum from the 70′s who told me that nothing in his life had been harder than selling books, and he’s been through a lot. I can constantly see the impact the lessons I learned have had on my marriage and my parenting.
